I keep renew my topic of my research paper. The topic I pick is all about the business and art relationship, I think it is because of my Academics background. My previous studies in advertising and art direction at university have influenced my views and made me wonder if the two are something that can be integrated?
Some artists illustrate well the existing bridge between art, advertising and consumption. From the late 19th century onwards, cabaret managers used to ask Parisian artists to produce posters advertising the praise and excess of their dances. This was particularly true of the iconic Toulouse-Lautrec, which produced the equally famous advertising poster for La Goulue: a masked evening organised by the Moulin Rouge and hosted by an eccentric dancer of the same name.My previous studies in advertising and art direction at university have influenced my views and made me wonder if the two are something that can be integrated?

Later, in the mid-1950s, the emergence of Pop Art across the Atlantic swept the art world with an advertising invasion. Andy Warhol's canned tomato soup and Roy Lichtenstein's stylised product descriptions would symbolise this new trend: the interruption of fine art in advertising culture. The use of everyday consumer products by artists bearing the stamp of Pop Art will soon prove its worth in the commercial world. The Campbell Soup Company (an American company selling famous canned foods) could not have imagined a better marketing strategy than that offered by the creative genius of Andy Warhol. Today, these pop art boxes have become iconic around the world, even though they are only available in American supermarkets. For an industrialist, it was an effective way of making history through art: the display of the work mechanically increased the exposure of the product.
Gradually, the boundaries between art, entertainment and consumer goods will become looser and looser. Andy Warhol went further and famously said: "When you think about it, department stores are a bit like museums."
As you can see, the links between art and advertising are more complex than they seem. From Citroën Picasso to Keith Haring coffee machines, including the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami, we could have evoked many other eloquent situations in which art embraced advertising, sometimes (usually) for the worse.
"Art is already advertising. The Mona Lisa could have been used as support for chocolate, Coca-Cola or other brands." (Andy Warhol, 1981).
I think this is the reason I wanna study and write this paper.
