Elphonso Lam is a Hong kong comic artist \ Graphic designer \ Toys designer \ Art Director \ Writer at Re:spect and Bubble magazine \ Rats music Director.

He has a interesting news before, it is about sexism debate, which is not a common topic in Hong Kong. He is also participate the exhibition of what I did the case studies in the essay. So I ask him for a interview, we did a 2 hours interview and we chat a lot about his point of view of the Hong Kong artist cycle.

Elphonso Lam argues that K11 is a well-conceived mall, but that the mall's curators and staff lack aesthetic knowledge and competence and are a waste of resources. Although K11 promotes the mall as an exhibition, most people go to the exhibition with a herd mentality.

There were many internal constraints on the K11 team during the exhibition as they had their own angles of what they wanted the artists to produce, which strongly limited the freedom of the artists to create. In addition, the theme of the exhibition is subculture, but there are so many commercial elements in the exhibition that the freedom of the artists to create is diminished.

Regarding exposure, Elphonso Lam admits that K11 has a large audience, but does not make anyone famous because people are skimming the exhibition and they visit it to take photos and sign in on Instagram. In fact, it's not the K11's responsibility. It's a trend.
